Pi Shawl Questions
I am close to finishing a pi shawl. I used the lace pattern from Knitting Almanac, the gull lace used in the baby sweater. I am trying to decide how to end it. Has anyone used an 1-cord border? Or does someone have other suggestions? Thanks! Joan

I think I'd just bind off as usual and then pull out little decorative points all around the edge in the blocking. I think I'd avoid an i-cord edge on something so delicate as a lace shawl. Can't wait to see how it looks, whatever you choose!

I-Cord is a bit too unyielding for a lace edging.
A Sideways border is good (either lace or garter-stitch) -- or a crocheted-loop edge รก la Marianne Kinzel.

I really like a knitted lace border. It goes quickly and it will stretch nicely. I use the Simple Loops edging from the Barbara Walkers books a lot as it's reversible and easy to memorize. You might take a look at the edging pattern here to see if it would work with your shawl.
