A little intro and a question too

Hi there, I am very new to the zimmerman world having just bought and read a copy of the opinionted knitter. I have to say I havent enjoyed a book quite so much in a very long time.
Now for the question, I would love to knit the snail hat can anybody in the know tell me if I should be looking at DK or Aran weight for this?
TIA

  • The snail hat can be knit with either. It depends on your gauge. I would however start with aran weight or even a medium bulky to bulky weight yarn. Looking at the hat, it looks to be a bit heavier yarn. Don't forget to check "your" gauge... :)

  • Also, note that there is an error in the pattern in Opinionated Knitter. If you scroll down a ways you'll find a correction from Meg on this KAL. Or, probably at the schoolhouse press website the correction is there too. The gauge is about 2.5 stitches per inch, so you might need to hold a could of strands of aran together. Good luck!

  • Another thing is just to get the sheepsdown wool (unless your allergic to wool) that they sell from Schoolhouse Press. It will give the gauge you need.
