Tomten Too Big
I knit this during my pregnancy and when I finished it, I thought it would not fit the Beans, it just looked so small. I hoped for the best, figuring it would fit for a summer evening. Apparently I have very little concept of the size of newborn twins. The boys were a tad premature, just under 36 weeks. We are scrambling to find clothes they can wear that do not engulf their little bodies. None of the knits I worked on during my period of bedrest fit. But the good thing is the Tomten will fit for those autumnal nights, and I have time to knit the second one for Bean 2. Well, that statement is dubious, time is precious and the current WIPs are simple knits requiring no real concentration. Maybe in a few Weeks/months, when the routine sets in and the boys grow a bit more and can go without feeding every two hours, well, maybe then I will cast on for Tomten 2. And to think, I ordered the pattern and yarn for this right before I went into hospital to deliver them. The priority mail package was sitting on the step when we got home, I did not open it for at least a week. Talk about priority change. That piece may not happen, uh, forever. But one can dream. BTW: the yarn used in Brooklyntweed's version is a great price at WEBS.

Adorable! I too, am working on a Tomten for my brand new great-nephew. I expected him to use it this Fall, but I'm not sure. It's going to be BIG enough for his 3 year old sister I think! :-)

How adorable the babies are, and your knitting, too! The good thing is that babies always get bigger.

how lovely. i think the jacket looks good on all sizes. aren't they small when newborn. but they will cucumber in no time and you will have to knit really fast. in they end you may not even want to knit for them because they can only fit the things for such a limited time. well maybe except tomten which seems to expand with the baby. and congratulations with the boys. it is sooo goood that everything turned out so well.

Congratulations! That is simply the most gorgeous picture I have seen on this blog to date. I wonder whether EZ realised her patterns were so versatile that they could accomodate twins in one jacket? (",)

Your little boys are so tiny and sweet. You will not have much knitting time for quite a while, but they are sure worth it! Before you know it, they will be so big. The jacket turned out great too :) Congratulations!

As a fellow mom of former itty bitty 35-week twins (now 15 months and both off-the-charts in height and weight), I can tell you that the tomten will be outgrown before you know it!!! They start so small but once they get a little momentum, the growth rate is phenomenol. If you have ANY time to knit before they are a year old, my hat is off to you! Its a hard year... Take lots of pictures, because you won't remember these days very well, and it will be hard to believe they were ever so tiny. (:

Oh my gosh, I want to watch these two grow!
