Hood Help
I'm so close! I'm on the hood of a Tomten and the instructions say to increase 2 times at center back every 2 rows. Help! What kind of increase looks best in garter stitch? Usually I thought if you are supposed to do two increases, they are paired on either side of an anchor stitch, but there are an even number of stitches so there's no middle stitch to anchor around on this one. Also...is every 2 rows the same as every other row?

I did two increases (M1) at either side of two middle stitches at the center of the hood every other row and that worked well. I am now busy with the last arm and then only a rim along the opening and it's done... I will make an entry at that time. Good luck

In Knitting Workshop, EZ says M1 is done by making a backward loop (a half-hitch) over the right-hand needle and then knitting into it like a stitch when you come to it on the next row. I sometimes do it on the left needle and then slip it across: for some reason I find that easier.
She says the loop may be twisted to the left or right but be consistent: when doing paired increases, twist each in the opposite direction.

I did the same as marjolein. I kept the center two stitches the same and increased on either side of them by m1, picking up the loop from front to back at the first inc, then picking up the loop from back to front on the second.
as long as you keep it consistent, it looks good. and the result on the finished jacket is so perfect! now if i could just find the right button to finish it up, I'd be posting pictures...

Thank you *so* much! I really appreciate it. i've been able to do most of the modifications/interpretations myself on this thing (gauge, etc) so I'm proud of that but I couldn't wrap my brain around this detail. I really appreciate all of the help.
