Bonnet from The Opinionated Knitter
Hey all, it seems I forgot to post an FO! I finished a bonnet for my daughter last month using the bonnet pattern from p. 108 of The Opinionated Knitter. I used some Malabrigo worsted and size 6 Denise needles. It's a little big for her, but in my book that's a good problem to have. I hate to see something I knitted get barely any use before it's been outgrown.
This is the best photo I could get of her wearing it. She's at that age...

Absolutely darling. Babies don't look any less cute in knitwear when they're sulky! You're making me crave Malabrigo, too. Mmmmm.

Hi Sonya, thanks for commenting my Podcast. I would love to give you an answer to your question, but I couldn´t find out what spokes-sheep means. I have an idea, but I´m not sure. :o) Sweet girl with sweet bonnet, but her eyes tell that she is not sure if she likes to go out for a walk ;o)

Wonderful bonnet!!! I agree with you on the "little bit too big" being good for the kidlets' knitwear. They grow so danged fast!!

Oh dear. Now I have to add this to my list! Wouldn't you know I even have an odd ball of malabrigo floating around here. She's a sweet, sweet little thing.

Beautiful baby, beautiful hat!
Seeing this picture brought back memories of when my oldest daughter was 'that age', she had such a mind of her own and always let us know. She is 32 now, and a complete joy...you would never know what a strong willed baby girl she was. I must knit a hat for her...maybe a ganomy:)

Hello,
I am just about to start the ski bonnet from the Opinionated Knitter. However, I got stuck reading the directions, and was hoping you could provide some clarification. After shaping the top, the directions say to "baste a straight line for edge to beg of decr. Machine-stitch twice on each side of basting. Cut on basting." Can you please explain what to do. Do I sew a straight line, reinforce it on both sides and then cut the original straight line? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all pictures of the BSJ and Totems. It has definitely gotten me inspired to knit them.
