Knitter's Almanac Baby Sweater Size?

After seeing everyone's spectacular baby sweaters, I really want to make one too! However, the only babies I could knit this for are 6 months old already... Does anyone know what size/age baby this sweater pattern is written for?
Thanks so much,
Sophia

  1. the whole thing depends on the wool 'weight' you chose. my niece's baby fit it in worsted/aran weight on 4,5 or 5 mm needles when she was 4 or 5 months. it looked like a little coat on her. soooo cute.

  2. I used a yarn that was slightly larger than the suggested gauge and it looks like it will fit a very well fed 6-9 month old.

  3. I am making mine for a newborn as a shower gift, so I used a DK weight and size 6 needles. It looks like it will fit for the first few months. It's also a relatively easy pattern to adapt - you could increase the number CO and then the increases in the yoke, as long as it is a multiple of 7 plus 8.

  4. Doesn't the book have a percentage system on this sweater just a page or two before the pattern? I've been wondering if I could use that EPS to make this sweater for my 3 year old daughter. The sweater has got to be one of the cutest I've ever seen!!

  5. I made the sweater for my one year old using worsted yarn. I added on an inch to the hem and the sleeves, and it fit her perfectly, so I think the sweater would definitely fit a six-month-old.
