My name is Jenn, and I must admit I've never done any EZ patterns before, though I've used her sewn bind-off for many projects. But between seeing brooklyn tweed's gorgeous sweater and the things at Jessica's (F&P) blog, well, I just HAVE to join in. Seeing as how I'm just now starting an alpaca Rogue for myself, I wanted to do a small pattern, so I'll be doing the Baby Surprise Sweater. I still need to GET the pattern, I'm hoping that perhaps my LYS sells it. If not, I'll be ordering it from Schoolhouse (it makes me a very sad panda to pay $4.75 shipping on a $3 pattern, but oh well, I'll live). The knitting matron at my LYS has taught a class on the BSS, so she also has a convienent spreadsheet for figuring out when to do what, so hopefully I can get a copy of that from her to help me through the pattern.

And, because we all love yarn porn...Here are the yarns I'll be using. I'll first use Shi Bui's Izu yarn in Dusk, leftover from a pair of gloves I made for my boyfriend. When I run out of that, I'll switch to the same yarn in Brushstroke, from which I'm making ScarfStyle's "Forbes Forest" scarf, also for the boyfriend. Pics of the two yarns are below, Dusk has the orange bits, Brushstroke is the not-quite-solid dark blue.

  • Oooo! Thanks for the yarn porn! I love them both!

  • Thanks! I got my pattern the day before yesterday, and needles yesterday...I'm SO excited. I don't know if I'll be able to wait until the 23rd! Of course, I WILL have to, because I need those needles I just got to cast on for my Rogue sweater, but as soon as I'm done with the first hem, they're destined for BSS! I'll be posting lots of pics of my progress, hopefully the BSS will turn out as gorgeous as I'm imagining.
